Parking at Anfield Stadium

Welcome to ParkingScout, your ultimate partner in discovering the top ‘hidden parking gems’ in the biggest cities and near the most popular attractions in the UK. This week, we’re looking at convenient free and paid parking options near the home of Liverpool F.C. – Anfield Stadium. Whether you’re buzzing with excitement for a thrilling match day or planning on visiting during a more relaxed non-match day, we’ve got you covered with the best parking options to save you money on parking and time spent in traffic. With 54,000 seats to fill, Anfield Stadium and the surrounding streets can get pretty hectic, but fear not! ParkingScout has you covered with the perfect parking spot to make the most of matchday.

Match Day Parking at Anfield Stadium

Anfield Stadium is located smack-dab right in the middle of a residential area. This means that onsite parking right on the stadium’s doorstep can be troublesome. The stadium has very limited onsite parking for fans, and this is reserved for registered fans with disabilities. Additionally, the nearby streets operate on a residents-only scheme from the 1st of August through the 30th of June. This means that parking your car on the side of the road anywhere near the stadium will likely end up being a costly affair unless you’re there in July.

Match days also bring with them road closures before and after the match.

  • Anfield Road closes four hours before kick-off, with automatic bollards.
  • Walton Breck Road closes 90 minutes before kick-off, reopens 15 minutes after kick-off, closes again 15 minutes before the game ends, and reopens about 45 minutes after the game.
  • Arkles Lane (Southbound from Priory Road to Anfield Road) will have a trial closure for approximately 20 minutes after each match.

In summary, parking onsite or within a 3 to 5-minute walk of Anfield Stadium on match day is a no-go unless you are registered as a fan with disabilities.

Off-site matchday parking options

With onsite parking simply not available, this only leaves offsite parking as an option when visiting Anfield Stadium, and with the residential parking restrictions in place, nearby ones are in short supply. Anfield Stadium recommends parking in one of the many car parks in the centre of the city, then taking public transport to the stadium. Alternatively, you could walk, but this will take you roughly 40 minutes. Express shuttle bus services to Anfield Stadium are available from Lime Street Station/St Georges Plateau.

Express Bus Parking Options from Commutation Row, City Centre

One of the more popular parking options on match day is to park at one of the many car parks in the city centre, and then take the 917 stadium express bus. On match day, the bus runs every 10 minutes at a cost of £2.30 per adult (single) or £4.60 return. Children can ride for £1.20 (single) and £2.30 return. They’ve also recently introduced group pricing options, with a return ticket for 4 people going for £12. You can catch the 917 on Commutation Road (see our map for the exact spot) and get to the stadium in approximately 15 minutes.

Soccerbus Parking Options from Sandhills Station (SDL)

Another option is to find parking near Sandhills Station, located to the west of Anfield Stadium. From there, you can get to the stadium in no more than 15 minutes on the Soccerbus, a bus service that only runs on match day. The Soccerbus runs 2 hours before each match, with the last bus leaving from Sandhills Station about 15 minutes before kick-off. A single ticket costs £1.60 for adults and 80p for children.

While there aren’t many secure car parks available within any sort of convenient walking distance, there are on-street parking options available. Sandhill Station (SDL) is surrounded by commercial and light-industrial areas, and while these aren’t the prettiest of streets, many people park here on match day and make the short walk to the station to catch the Soccerbus.

Within the same radius of Anfield Stadium, they’re pretty similarly priced, with the closest options going for £10 per match day, going down to as little as £5 per day as you move further from the stadium. We also managed to find free parking in Rupert Lane that’s only a 20-minute walk; however, these spots go pretty fast on match day, so make sure to get there at least 2 hours before kick-off if you want any sort of chance at free parking within walking distance.

Parking app options on match-day

Parking near Anfield Stadium can be a bit tricky because there aren’t many car parks close by. However, apps like Justpark and Your Parking Space are really helpful as people who live nearby and have extra space like a driveway or garage rent it out for parking on match days. The prices for these parking spots can vary a lot. Some are really cheap, while others can be quite expensive.

It’s a good idea to book your parking spot early when using these apps, especially near popular places like Anfield Stadium. More and more people are using these apps to save money, so the spots can fill up fast. You might find a good deal if you look the day before a match, but it’s better to start looking at least a week or two in advance.

ParkingScout checked both JustPark and Your Parking Space, the two biggest driveway rental options for convenient and affordable parking near Anfield Stadium on match day. We looked at a 4-hour parking window, starting 1 hour before kick-off time. We looked for parking with a two-week lead time in both cases.

JustPark

JustPark managed to provide dozens and dozens of options within a 20-minute walk of Anfield Station with a two-week lead. In fact, from all the searches we’ve done, this is by far the most results we’ve received. While we found at least 7 options under £10, the majority of options were priced anywhere between £12 and £20, with some spots advertised as high as £30+. While it is possible to park for less, these are great options to choose if you’re really not up for a long walk or insist on not taking public transport.

Your Parking Space

While Your Parking Space also offered plenty of options, they were markedly more expensive than what’s available on JustPark. On average, these spots went for £20 to £30, which is almost double than what their main competitor is charging.

Plus, as an added bonus, you’ll have a little snack 🙂
