Bath hotels with parking

Bath is a top-level destination for travellers from both the UK and abroad. Taking a closer look at its spectacular place in history and all that it offers now reveals why so many people flock to this ancient Roman spa town. Named after the public baths built by the Romans, Bath today welcomes around 6 million guests each year.

If you’re a first-time visitor to Bath, visiting The Roman Baths is practically a requirement. Explore the Roman bathing complex, which includes the Great Bath, the Sacred Spring, and the Temple dedicated to Sulis Minerva; learn about spa life and culture in Roman and Georgian times, and after a long day of enriching yourself, take the afternoon off at Thermae Bath Spa and enjoy the soothing warm waters for yourself. Bath is well-known for its architectural heritage. The town features many examples of stunning historical buildings, many of them extremely well-preserved, and spending a day on foot looking for them comes highly recommended. You can set off by yourself, or join a guided or self-guided walking tour. Some highlights include Bath Abbey, Bath Assembly Rooms designed by John Wood the Younger, the Royal Crescent townhouses, the Circus, the Pump Room, and many more. Bath is old, but definitely don’t call it sleepy! Bath hosts many well-established festivals each year that draw millions of visitors. The Bath Festival celebrates music, literature, and theatre and is attended by artists, authors, and musicians from around the world. It also hosts other music festivals, a comedy festival, a children’s literature festival, and a film festival to name but a few. You might want to consider visiting in December just to make it to the Bath Christmas market. Most of the action in Bath happens in the heart of the city, within a 500-metre radius of the Roman Baths. You’ll find most of the big attractions, hotels, businesses, and nightlife in this area. Unsurprisingly, parking here is pricey and scarce. We’ve put together a list of hotels, B&Bs, and guesthouses across multiple price points that offer free or deeply discounted parking in Bath.

Bath City Centre Parking

On-street pay-and-display parking options are available on a number of Bath city centre streets. The parking fees apply between 8:00 and 19:00, meaning you could risk it and leave your car streetside if you plan on getting up early. During the day, Bath city centre streetside parking will cost you £3.60/hour if you’re anywhere within 500m or so of the Roman Baths. North of the Circus, they use a sliding scale that brings the hourly rate down. Typically, you’d be looking at £5.10 for a 3-hour stay.

Bath on-street parking and car parks do not accept debit or credit cards, and the car parks are entirely cashless. To make use of council-run parking, please download the MiPermit app –Android or iOS– to facilitate easy payment. This list shows all the city centre streets with pay-and-display parking. When it comes to car parks, many in the heart of Bath have a 4-hour maximum stay at a cost of £6.80 and £1.50 per hour after that. A day’s parking here can easily end up costing more than £20.
